Where should we meet for a pickup at DCA?
DCA uses different pickup geometry for its two terminals. Terminal 1 pickup is at ground level around the terminal circle; Terminal 2 pickup is on the Arrivals and Baggage Claim level, with door numbers available for coordination. During heavy traffic, a coordinated Departures-level pickup may be possible at Terminal 2 when current signs allow it.
DCA route identity
This page is for Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA). Airport identity and coverage come from the published Arrival airport catalog.
What the reviewed guidance says
- Terminal 1 private pickup uses the ground-level terminal circle.
- Terminal 2 normally uses the Arrivals and Baggage Claim level.
- DCA notes that Terminal 2 Departures can be a busy-time alternative when coordinated.
Mistakes to avoid
- Assuming both DCA terminals use the same roadway layout.
- Changing to Departures without telling the passenger.
- Stopping at the first open curb instead of the agreed door.
